Pradip - Superintendent Pharmacist

Pradip qualified from Leicester Polytechnic (now known as De Montfort University) with his degree in Pharmacy in 1982. After gaining some valuable experience as a locum pharmacist, Pradip decided to open Sonichem Pharmacy in 1983 with a view to offering the local population a dedicated pharmacy service. In the early years he truly did everything including stacking the shelves and delivering medication to those in need, all with a smile on his face.

He has been ever present throughout the years and overseen the expansion from the little community pharmacy he opened to Leicester’s first automated pharmacy able to deliver Sonichem’s acclaimed pharmacy services to many more of our customers and patients, all of whom are greeted with the same friendliness as the day we first opened.

Pradip still has an active role in the pharmacy looking after our patients who require Dossett Boxes and the general business operation at Sonichem Pharmacy.

Amit - Chief Pharmacist

Amit qualified from De Montfort University in 2000 and after spending three years as a locum working in many facets of community pharmacy, decided to join the family business in 2003. With the backing of Uncle Pradip, Amit has transformed the pharmacy from its humble beginnings in 1983 into the state of the art facility it is today. The aim of their endeavour was to provide our community with an excellent pharmacy service, and the feedback and reviews we have achieved go to show that their hard work and efforts are very much appreciated.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Amit continues to strive forward and build upon the excellent foundations laid by Pradip, so that our customers and patients can continue to receive the best care we can give.

Amit leads the team at Sonichem to inspire those working with him to reach their goals and thereby serve our patrons in the best possible way.

Priyanka - Clinical Pharmacist

Priyanka is the clinical pharmacist at Sonichem with a great passion for providing the best patient care.

Priyanka has visited many pharmacies through the city and county over the past two and a half years; adding to her skill set and continually learning to keep her knowledge of medicines up to date.

The passion for patient care now extends through Priyanka’s role as clinical review pharmacist here Sonichem, where she runs a valuable service clinic twice weekly to discuss medicines usage with patients. Her open approach to talking about medicines and providing information on how best to use them aids in reducing medicines wastage, tackling concerns about medicines head on and being a friendly face to talk to about all medicines queries. Priyanka also works as a dispensing Pharmacist at Sonichem part time.

Bhakti - Pharmacist

Bhakti completed her Masters Degree in Pharmacy from De Montfort University, Leicester in 2015. She completed her Pre Registration year in an independent, community pharmacy still based in Leicester.

After qualifying, Bhakti worked as a Locum Pharmacist where she gained valuable experiences in the field including excellent communication

skills and providing the best advice for the treatment on common minor ailments. Bhakti wanted a change from pharmacy and so worked as a Practice Pharmacist at a doctor’s surgery. Part of her role was dealing with repeat prescriptions orders, and to ensure that the repeat medications being prescribed were suitable for the individual patient.

Bhakti is very passionate about Pharmacy, and likes to remain up to date with recent developments in Pharmacy by regularly attending CPD sessions and courses. She is accredited in delivering several services; including completing the Skills for Medicines Use Reviews course from the reputed Medway School of Pharmacy. Additionally, she has completed CPPE courses including the New Medicine Service and Minor Ailment Service.

Bhakti now works full time at Sonichem as a dispensing Pharmacist; she also offers New Medicines Service, and giving pharmaceutical advice to patients.

Wendy - Trainee Dispenser

Wendy has been working at Sonichem for over 20 happy years. She passed her medical counter assistant exams in 2004, with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. Wendy also has an OCR level 3 NVQ qualifications in retail management. Wendy’s main duties include patient care for dossett patients, pharmacy counter assistant, and taking blood pressure and glucose checks. Wendy also has a qualification to give smoking cessation advice.

Wendy is a great team member, always keen to learn more therefore partaking exams to become a qualified pharmacy dispenser.

Jill - Counter Assistant

Jill has been working at Sonichem for nearly 15 years. Jill is very enthusiastic about her work. On a daily basis she gives advice to customers that are suffering with common colds etc with over the counter products. Jill’s main duties include ordering patients repeat prescription requests and the managing and ordering of shop/counter goods, making sure we are well stocked. Jill’s great organisational skills certainly reflect well through the shop floor, keeping in tone with the structure of the chemist.

Nickita - Pharmacy Assistant

Nickita has been working at Sonichem for a number of years, starting as a part time assistant and then joined the team full time for past four years.

Nickita’s main focus is logistics, as for a community pharmacy and the busy life we lead these days, our home deliveries have trebled in the past few years,

therefore it needs to be tracked, scheduled and organised well in order to keep up with the standards we have at Sonichem. As well as logistics, dealing with repeat prescription queries and being a pharmacist assistant, Nickita has a BA Honors Degree in Marketing and Media. Using her degree knowledge, Nickita creates and designs leaflets, posters, adverts etc, for the different services/products in which S¬¬¬onichem offer. In addition to this, Nickita keeps our social media updated on a regular basis as living in this technological generation it is important to be able to interact with our consumers and advertise seasonal offers, new services and news updates.

Jim - Delivery Driver

im is our very own delivery driver; he has been apart of Sonichem Team for over two years. Jim is very enthusiastic when coming to work every day. With the amount of deliveries we have expanded to, Jim has been able to work his time management out and make sure everyone’s medication is delivered on time.

Sunita - Weekend Assistant

Sunita has been working part time at Sonichem helping her Dad, Pradip, at the weekends and on holidays. Sunita’s career is in Fashion textile design.

Sunita enjoys working as counter assistant for a number of years learning a lot along the way. She has become more confident in her customer service skills

and is happy to help giving advice to customers as best to her knowledge. Sunita has been apart of the journey helping transform Sonichem into the modern contemporary pharmacy it is today. She used her creative skills in designing the Sonichem logo, graphics and window displays to rebrand the pharmacy.

Joseph Chan - Western Acupuncturist

Joseph is an experienced medical practitioner, trained surgeon and acupuncturist with 30 years of practice.

He has a strong understanding of medical and surgical conditions and through his specialty training in acupuncture, he helps patients to alleviate and speed up their recovery processes with acupuncture.

Joseph has been working as a GP for the past 23 years. He is an active member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS). He is a regional group leader and holds a Diploma of Medical Acupuncture. He mentors newly qualified acupuncturists and has written a number of original research papers for publication through BMAS. He is also a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.

He can offer help with:

• Mild anxiety and depression.
• Breast pain and menopausal symptoms.
